The Findmykids app has launched a new feature, 'Help in finding children,' designed to create a crowdsourced safety network to expedite the search for missing children. This innovative feature sends push notifications to users who have opted in within a specific area, providing details such as the child's photo, identifying information, and last known location, along with an interactive map for further details.
With the U.S. reporting over 375,000 missing child cases in 2023, the need for rapid response tools is undeniable. Research indicates that the first three hours are crucial, with 74% of child abduction cases resolved within this timeframe. Findmykids seeks to enhance traditional search efforts by engaging a community of users ready to assist promptly.
Vadikh Giniatulin, CEO of Letem, the company behind Findmykids, highlighted the critical role of time in these situations. The app's strategy is to convert passive observers into active search participants, potentially averting tragic outcomes. Since its inception in 2016, Findmykids has consistently added features to improve child safety, with this latest development marking a pivotal advancement in using technology to support families in crisis.
