BioUtah has announced its support as an Investor-level contributor to the newly launched Life Sciences Workforce Collaborative (LSWC), a national nonprofit aimed at enhancing talent pipelines across the U.S. This collaboration reflects BioUtah's dedication to workforce development, a crucial element for Utah's booming life sciences industry. The LSWC's mission to foster life sciences workforce development aligns with Utah's existing initiatives, such as a $4 million state legislature program for life sciences training and the Talent Hub program focusing on internships and specialized placements.
Utah's life sciences sector benefits from a pro-business environment, with the state being named the #1 state for business by U.S. News and World Report for three years running. Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah, emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce for sustaining innovation in life sciences, particularly as demand for biomanufacturing and regulatory expertise grows. Recent analyses underscore the sector's role in Utah's employment landscape, with the professional, scientific, and technical services sector remaining a key employment driver despite a slowdown in overall job growth.
By partnering with the LSWC, BioUtah aims to leverage national insights and best practices to further develop Utah's talent pipeline, ensuring the state remains at the forefront of life sciences innovation.
