A survey conducted by D-Wave Quantum Inc. in collaboration with Wakefield Research has uncovered a strong interest among business leaders in leveraging quantum computing for optimization purposes. The study, which surveyed 400 logistics or operational managers and decision-makers, revealed that 46% of those who have either implemented or are planning to implement quantum optimization anticipate an ROI between $1 and $5 million within the first year, with 27% expecting returns exceeding $5 million in the same period.
According to the findings, 81% of the respondents believe they have already maximized the benefits achievable through classical computer optimization, prompting 53% to plan the integration of quantum computing into their operational workflows. The survey pinpointed supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing as key sectors where quantum optimization could have a significant impact. Dr. Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave, highlighted that the survey underscores the immediate applicability and potential business value of annealing quantum solutions.
