UGI Utilities has initiated a significant upgrade to its natural gas system in Hazleton, starting June 16, as part of its commitment to safe and reliable service. The project, expected to finish by October, involves replacing a natural gas main and offers residents and businesses along the route the chance to switch to natural gas, potentially leading to energy savings and efficiency.
The upgrades will mainly impact West Diamond Avenue between Linden Street and Church Street, and Hemlock Street between North James Street and Locust Street. Construction will occur Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm, with road closures, detours, and parking restrictions expected. UGI advises residents to prepare for possible service interruptions and the need for property access for inspections and relighting.
This initiative highlights UGI Utilities' focus on infrastructure improvement and environmental sustainability, promoting the use of cleaner-burning natural gas. It represents a pivotal move in updating Hazleton's energy infrastructure, aiming to boost the community's energy reliability and reduce its environmental impact.
