The Shincheonji Church of Jesus Taekwondo Team has once again proven their exceptional skill and dedication by winning a total of 25 medals at the '2025 Park Chung-hee Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition'. This event, which took place at the Sangju Indoor Gymnasium in Gyeongbuk, attracted around 4,200 athletes from 18 countries, showcasing the universal appeal and competitive spirit of Taekwondo.
Despite the challenges of a limited preparation time, the team's focused training regimen led to an impressive haul of 4 gold, 7 silver, and 14 bronze medals in the official poomsae individual competition. This success not only highlights the team's technical prowess but also reinforces Korea's position as the heartland of Taekwondo, enhancing its cultural and diplomatic prestige on the international stage.
Lee Jun-wi, one of the gold medalists, shared that the team's success was the result of their concentrated efforts during the short training period. Coach Kim Deok-hoon also expressed his pride in the team's ability to perform consistently at a high level against formidable opponents. This victory adds to the team's growing list of achievements, following their previous success at the 2025 Kim Un-yong Cup, where all 12 team members secured medals.
The Shincheonji Church of Jesus's support for the Taekwondo team is part of its broader mission to make positive contributions to society through various avenues, including sports. The team's consistent performance in both national and international competitions cements their status as a dominant force in the world of Taekwondo, inspiring athletes and fans alike.
