NW Unicorn LLC has announced the appointment of Jianming (Nicolas) Li as its Lead Designer, a move that underscores the company's ambitious plans for U.S. market expansion. Li, who brings a wealth of international recognition and multiple prestigious design awards to the role, will lead the strategic creative direction at two key industry events: the Footwear Show New York Expo (FSNYE) 2025 and the Barefoot Shoe Expo 2026.
Li's notable achievements include winning the 2024 Global Footwear Award for his "Death Entanglement" design and the 2025 IDA Design Award (Bronze) for his Square-Round Chelsea Boots. His work has been featured in leading fashion publications such as ELLE China and Harper's Bazaar China, highlighting his influence and innovation in the footwear design sector.
At the FSNYE 2025, scheduled for December 1–3, 2025, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City, Li will oversee the U.S. launch and market development for PIGYPIGY, NW Unicorn's children's barefoot footwear brand. This event will serve as a pivotal platform for introducing the brand's 2026–2027 product line to key industry buyers and partners.
Following this, Li will take on the role of Footwear Design Director and Brand Product Lead for the BLACK CICADA project at the Barefoot Shoe Expo 2026. This global trade show, dedicated to barefoot and minimalist footwear, will feature over 120 international brands and focus on health-driven design innovations, offering NW Unicorn a unique opportunity to showcase its barefoot shoe design and strengthen its market presence.
