Mullen Automotive, a Southern California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, has made a notable advancement in the commercial EV market by securing an order for 10 Class 3 EV cab chassis trucks from Associated Coffee, a San Francisco Bay Area distributor. This order, facilitated through Mullen's authorized dealer Papé Group, reflects a growing trend towards sustainable transportation solutions in commercial operations, particularly in urban settings where last-mile delivery demands are increasing.
The Class 3 Mullen THREE trucks are designed to meet the needs of urban delivery services, offering a sustainable alternative that aligns with stringent emissions standards. With potential rebates and tax credits up to $52,500 for eligible customers, these vehicles present an economically viable option for businesses aiming to reduce their carbon footprint while also benefiting from lower operational costs.
This development is timely for Mullen Automotive, which commenced commercial vehicle production at its Tunica, Mississippi facility in August 2023. The company's vehicles, including the Mullen ONE and Mullen THREE, have received certification from the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and the EPA, making them available for sale across the United States. The CARB-issued HVIP approval for the Mullen THREE further enhances its appeal, offering up to a $45,000 cash voucher at purchase.
Mullen's strategic expansion of its commercial dealer network, now including seven dealers nationwide, ensures comprehensive sales and service support for customers transitioning to electric fleets. Additionally, the company's recent acquisition of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) status for its Mississippi manufacturing center bolsters its competitive edge by reducing costs and facilitating international market access.
The order from Associated Coffee not only signifies a milestone for Mullen Automotive but also underscores the broader shift towards electric vehicles in commercial fleets. As businesses increasingly recognize the environmental and economic advantages of EVs, manufacturers like Mullen are poised to lead the charge in transforming urban delivery services and contributing to global sustainability efforts.
