Hernando County, Florida, is taking a significant step forward in modernizing its utility operations by adopting Systems & Software's (S&S) enQ Customer Information System (CIS). This move aims to address the inefficiencies of the current system, which has been hampered by manual processes and a lack of integration across critical functions such as billing, customer service, and meter reading. The enQ CIS platform is expected to introduce automation and seamless system integration, paving the way for data-driven decision-making and improved service delivery.
The decision to implement the enQ CIS comes at a time when Hernando County's utility sector faces growing demands. Melissa Cosme, Utilities Business Manager for the county, highlighted the system's potential to transform operations by stating, Systems & Software's enQ CIS provides the automation, integration, and scalability we need to enhance efficiency and improve service. The platform will streamline billing for over 16,500 monthly meter readings, significantly reducing processing times and minimizing errors associated with manual data entry.
Beyond operational efficiencies, the enQ CIS will offer enhanced customer service features, including a self-service portal for residents to manage their accounts online. This initiative reflects a broader trend among utilities to adopt advanced technologies for better resource management and customer satisfaction. Shannon Martin, VP of Sales & Marketing at S&S, emphasized the system's role in addressing contemporary utility challenges through robust automation and analytics.
The implementation process will involve collaboration between S&S and Hernando County's Project Management Team, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system. The project also includes integration with existing and future systems like InvoiceCloud, Bill2Pay, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), aiming to create a comprehensive, modernized utility billing solution.
This technological upgrade in Hernando County serves as a model for other municipalities grappling with similar utility management challenges. It underscores the transformative potential of technology in enhancing both operational efficiency and customer engagement. As the county moves forward with this initiative, the benefits of the enQ CIS—ranging from more accurate billing to improved customer support—are expected to set a new standard for utility services in the digital age.
