Mullen Automotive (NASDAQ: MULN) has announced a significant $3.2 million vehicle order from Papé Trucks, its seventh franchise dealer partner, signaling a robust expansion in the commercial electric vehicle (EV) sector. This order includes 43 Class 3 EV trucks and 7 Class 1 EV cargo vans, alongside parts supply for warranty and repair services, with deliveries set to begin immediately. This partnership leverages Papé Trucks' extensive network across the Western U.S., known for exceptional customer service, to introduce Mullen's commercial EVs to a wider audience.
The collaboration with Papé Trucks is a strategic move for Mullen Automotive, as highlighted by CEO and chairman David Michery, who pointed out the dealer's expertise and reach in key West Coast markets. This deal is part of Mullen's broader strategy to cement its position in the EV market, following recent milestones such as the start of commercial vehicle production in Tunica, Mississippi, and IRS approval for federal EV tax credits, offering up to $7,500 per vehicle to eligible customers.
Further bolstering Mullen's market presence, the Mullen ONE and Mullen THREE have received certifications from the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and EPA, making them available for sale across the U.S. The CARB-issued HVIP approval for the Mullen THREE adds an attractive incentive with up to a $45,000 cash voucher at purchase. Mullen's expanding dealer network, now including seven dealers, covers significant markets nationwide, enhancing its ability to meet the surging demand for commercial EVs.
Additionally, Mullen's achievement of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) status for its Mississippi manufacturing center offers strategic advantages, such as duty deferment and elimination on exports, strengthening its competitiveness globally. As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification, Mullen's latest order and strategic initiatives underscore its commitment to leading the commercial EV sector, setting the stage for future growth and establishing its role in the evolving electric vehicle landscape.
