Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County (DVS) has entered into a partnership with Comcast Business to upgrade its technological capabilities, a move that significantly enhances its ability to provide continuous support to domestic violence survivors. This collaboration is pivotal for DVS, a non-profit organization that operates the only confidential emergency shelter in Snohomish County, Washington, offering a safe haven for individuals facing imminent danger from intimate partner violence.
The technological upgrade includes the provision of Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) and Voice Mobility Solutions by Comcast Business, ensuring the reliability and speed necessary for DVS's operations. Lauren Stiger, Development and Volunteer Manager of DVS, highlighted the importance of this upgrade, stating, Comcast Business has provided the seamless internet connection and phone service crucial for maintaining round-the-clock contact with survivors in need.
This partnership addresses a critical safety concern, as online methods of contact may not always be safe for survivors. The Voice Mobility Solutions are essential for the operation of DVS's crisis hotline, which must remain accessible at all times. Furthermore, the EDI service supports the bandwidth requirements of DVS's expanding programs aimed at community awareness and education on healthy relationships, including school visits and online webinars.
Rob Brenner, Vice President of Comcast Business for the Pacific Northwest Region, expressed pride in supporting DVS's mission to build healthier communities. This collaboration exemplifies how businesses can contribute to social causes by providing the technological backbone that amplifies the impact of non-profit organizations. With enhanced resources, DVS is better positioned to fulfill its mission of creating a safe environment for healing and growth for those affected by domestic violence.
