Chelsea Piers Fitness has significantly enhanced New York City's fitness landscape with the introduction of a luxurious 60,000-square-foot club in the Flatiron District. This new facility, located at 308 Park Ave S in One Madison Avenue, represents a pivotal expansion for the brand, showcasing its dedication to redefining fitness experiences in the city. Developed in collaboration with SL Green, the club spans four floors and is equipped with cutting-edge amenities, including a contrast therapy suite, steam and sauna locker rooms, and unique studio spaces featuring salt walls and infrared technology.
David Tewksbury, CEO and Co-Founder of Chelsea Piers Fitness, highlighted the strategic importance of this location, stating the club is designed to serve as a community hub where health and wellness are prioritized. The facility goes beyond traditional gym offerings by incorporating spaces for co-working and social engagement, alongside Roman bath-inspired recovery areas, to cultivate a sense of community among members.
The design of the club, a collaboration with Dan Fink Studio, merges modern wellness technology with architectural elements that pay homage to New York City's iconic public buildings. Ariel Calderón, Vice President Architecture and Design at Chelsea Piers Fitness, described the project as a fusion of the brand's heritage with the architectural narrative of the city. Notable features include industrial red trusses and a grand staircase, echoing the design of the original Chelsea Piers location.
Among the club's premium amenities are a Himalayan salt-covered wall, infrared yoga studios, and a co-ed contrast therapy suite. The facility also offers over 120 weekly boutique classes, a 4,000-square-foot multi-functional turf, and exclusive Symbio treadmills from Life Fitness. Additionally, members can enjoy a 6,000-square-foot lounge and co-working space, complete with luxury locker rooms offering steam and sauna facilities stocked with Malin + Goetz products.
This new Chelsea Piers Fitness location is part of the One Madison Avenue development by SL Green Realty Corp., aiming to set a new standard for workplace environments with its forward-thinking amenities. The opening of this club not only marks a significant expansion for Chelsea Piers Fitness but also establishes a new benchmark for luxury fitness experiences in New York City, emphasizing community wellness and state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of the Flatiron District.
