Suter Industries has announced the launch of their new HF-TOA288-SDI heavy fuel engine at xPonential 2024 in San Diego, CA. This engine, designed for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), represents a significant advancement in UAV propulsion technology, offering a solution that meets the safety and logistics requirements of global customers by utilizing jet fuel (Jet-A1, JP5, JP8). With a power output of 16.5kW (22.5HP) @6500rpm, the HF-TOA288-SDI is a twin cylinder, horizontal opposed, air cooled, two cycle engine, featuring semi-direct fuel injection and a 1kW starter/generator (2 kW optional).
The development of the HF-TOA288-SDI was driven by the increasing demand for larger heavy fuel UAV engines, particularly for group 3 UAVs. Suter Industries, in collaboration with CAE GmbH, has leveraged over 25 years of 2-stroke engine experience from both companies to create a high-performance, reliable engine. Dietrich Kehe, CEO and founder of CAE GmbH, highlighted the engine's reliable combustion across various operational conditions, while Lars Jäger, CSO of Suter Industries, emphasized the company's commitment to advancing aerospace engine solutions.
The HF-TOA288-SDI will be showcased at Suter Industries' booth #3650 at xPonential 2024, offering attendees a firsthand look at this innovative propulsion system. For more information on Suter Industries' aerospace solutions, visit https://www.suter-aviation.ch.
