TOMY International has unveiled a crowd-funding initiative for a 1:350 scale model of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, promising an unmatched level of detail and accuracy. This model, measuring 34.29" x 16.00" x 11.15" and weighing 20 pounds, is designed to be the centerpiece of any Star Trek collection. The pre-order window opens on August 1, 2024, and closes on September 12, 2024, with the model priced at $699 USD, exclusive to the continental United States.
The collaboration with Star Trek experts, including Gary Kerr, ensures the model's fidelity to the original studio model, incorporating reference materials previously unavailable. Unique features include color-changing interference paints and detailed interiors of the hangar deck, officers' lounge, and arboretum. Lighting features with three modes—start, warp, and impulse/cruise—further enhance the model's appeal, illuminating key components of the ship.
Accompanying the Enterprise is a 5.6" long SURAK Shuttlecraft with Warp Sled and a display stand, adding to the collectible's value. The model's display base includes a Type-C USB power port, eliminating the need for batteries. TOMY International aims to produce 5,000 units, with delivery expected in October 2025.
This project marks TOMY International's second collaboration with Paramount, following their previous successful partnership. The model's launch is supported by a digital campaign targeting U.S. Star Trek fans, with details available on their dedicated website. The U.S.S. Enterprise model sets a new benchmark for collectible starship models, offering fans a piece of Star Trek history with unprecedented accuracy and detail.
