Fathom Nickel Inc. has announced the successful completion of its summer field exploration program at the Gochager Lake Project, a critical endeavor in the company's strategy to uncover magmatic nickel sulphide deposits. Despite facing unforeseen challenges, including a lightning-caused wildfire that necessitated an early evacuation and shortened the exploration period by three days, the company achieved approximately 90% of its targeted soil sampling. A total of 2,926 B-horizon soil samples were collected across 3,183 planned sites, alongside 337 chip and grab rock samples from outcrops. These samples underwent on-site analysis for nickel, copper, cobalt, sulphur, and mafic-ultramafic pathfinder elements using pXRF technology.
The resilience demonstrated by the exploration team underscores the project's significance in Fathom Nickel's broader mission to secure the supply of North American Critical Minerals. Several mineralized samples have been dispatched for further multi-element assay and whole rock geochemistry, which could shed light on the mineral potential of the Gochager Lake Project. This exploration is a pivotal part of Fathom Nickel's commitment to supporting the global transition to green energy by discovering and developing nickel sulphide deposits, vital for battery production and other renewable energy technologies.
