The Platform Group AG, a leading software company for platform solutions, has announced that its subsidiary Digitec Living Brands GmbH has acquired a stake in Berlin-based PMR Handels GmbH, expanding its portfolio in the furniture sector. This strategic move represents a significant development in the European furniture retail market, enabling The Platform Group to leverage its technological expertise while expanding its reach through PMR's established online presence and international distribution network.
PMR operates several online shops including Sofa-dreams.com and sells products from affiliated partners in more than 12 countries. Dr. Dominik Benner, CEO of The Platform Group AG, stated that this investment allows Digitec Living Brands to systematically pursue their platform approach in furniture retail, further strengthening their position within the furniture industry. He emphasized that B2B customers have become significantly more important over the last two years, highlighting the strategic importance of this expansion.
Christopher Lauth, Managing Director of Digitec Living Brands GmbH, explained that the strategic investment aims to connect more furniture manufacturers to their platforms, lower logistics costs through efficiency gains, and reduce marketing costs using TPG solutions. The company will remain operationally independent under the existing management team led by Harald Rexilius, ensuring continuity while benefiting from The Platform Group's technological infrastructure.
The Platform Group AG operates as a software company active in 27 industries with its own platform solutions, serving both B2B and B2C customers in sectors including furniture retail, machinery retail, dental technology, car platforms, and luxury fashion. With 19 locations across Europe and headquarters in Dusseldorf, the group achieved sales of EUR 525 million with an operating result of EUR 33 million in 2024, demonstrating its strong market position and financial stability.
The collaboration is expected to create synergies that benefit both companies and their manufacturing partners across multiple markets, particularly through improved logistics efficiency and expanded market reach. This investment underscores the growing importance of platform-based business models in traditional retail sectors and represents a strategic response to the increasing digitalization of furniture retail across Europe.
