The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for a four-day run. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd., the three fairs under the theme 'New Play for All' have attracted more than 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including new participants from Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Norway. A significant development this year is the launch of the new 'Pop & Play' pavilion, which is open to both trade buyers and the public. The pavilion brings together approximately 150 famous local and international intellectual properties (IPs), including B.Duck, CardFun, CR7® LIFE, Hot Toys, and threezero. Some IPs are launching fair premieres and global limited-edition collectibles, such as TUTU MOKEY collectible figurines limited to 100 pieces and CM Concepts Limited's Mazinger Z Playing Cards limited to 1,500 sets worldwide. The pavilion also features interactive activities, including photo opportunities and autograph sessions with artists like b.wing and Kenny Wong, creator of the iconic Molly.
The fairs reveal several important product trends pointing the way forward for the industry. The growing 'kidult' and toy collecting markets are injecting strong momentum, with the 'Kidult World' zone in Hall 3E showcasing toys catering to adults. Another emerging trend is the demand for 'Happy Ageing' products, with more than 40 exhibitors adopting a new label to identify toys and games designed specifically for seniors or intergenerational family fun. Sustainable products are also stimulating demand, with more than 400 exhibitors displaying the 'Green Solutions' label this year—an increase of approximately 10% compared to 2025. Examples include toys made from ocean-bound plastic and baby products certified under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Global Recycling Standard (GRS). The trend of combining learning and play continues, with exhibitors showcasing STEM-integrated toys like robotic arm kits and digital microscopes.
Korean film and TV-related products have become a new focus, with items related to the animated film KPop Demon Hunters and the Gonggi Tossing Game from Squid Game. The Korean brand Pinkfong is making its debut with early-learning toys. The Baby Products Fair has expanded its 'World of Strollers and Gear' and 'ODM Strollers and Gear' zones, hosting approximately 230 exhibitors. The Stationery & School Supplies Fair welcomes exhibitors from New Zealand for the first time. The Asia Toys & Games Forum, themed 'Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success,' opens tomorrow, featuring international experts discussing market outlooks, IP strategies, and regulatory developments. The fairs operate under the EXHIBITION+ model, combining physical exhibitions with the Click2Match smart-matching platform for online business meetings from January 5 to 22, 2026. This integrated approach aims to create cross-regional and cross-sector opportunities for the global toy, baby product, and stationery industries.
