The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Microsoft Hong Kong have launched the Microsoft AI Adoption Programme, a collaborative initiative designed to support Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in harnessing artificial intelligence to boost productivity and accelerate digital transformation. The programme includes three thematic workshops featuring industry experts who will share practical insights on applying AI in business operations, along with exclusive AI solution offers to help companies adopt these technologies more affordably.
Patrick Lau, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, highlighted the programme's alignment with the organization's ongoing efforts to strengthen business competitiveness. Through our Transformation Sandbox (T-box), the HKTDC has been committed to supporting companies in strengthening their competitiveness - across market expansion, brand building, operational upgrading and digital transformation, Lau said. He noted that this collaboration builds on previous work with Microsoft Hong Kong, specifically referencing the 2022 Go Beyond Your Limits programme that offered solution discounts to support SME digital transformation.
Leo Liu, General Manager of Microsoft Hong Kong and Macau, emphasized the importance of AI adoption in today's business landscape. We are delighted to continue our collaboration with the HKTDC to support local SMEs in adopting AI in their day-to-day operations and accelerating their digital transformation journey, Liu stated. In this rapidly evolving era of AI, we are committed to empowering every company, as they take steady steps toward becoming Frontier Firms.
The programme's first workshop, held recently, focused on The Intelligence Chain - How AI Connects Every Workflow in Your Business. The session featured presentations from Microsoft Hong Kong's National Technology Officer Fred Sheu and Go-To-Market Lead of AI Business Solutions Frankie Lam, along with SOS Group Limited's Solutions Director – Modern Workplace Vincent Chak. Through product demonstrations and real-life case studies, speakers introduced AI solutions for modern workplaces and discussed core strategies for effective AI implementation.
Two additional workshops are scheduled for March and April 2026. The March session, Building AI Applications and Intelligent Processes: Practical Experience with Azure AI, will showcase how intelligent solutions can analyze data, while the April workshop, AI Leading a New Era of Operational Automation, will explore how automation and predictive analytics can streamline workflows. Companies participating in the T-box programme can access exclusive Microsoft discounts through the initiative, making AI adoption more cost-effective for SMEs.
