REPLOID Group AG has consolidated its fertilizer business into a new dedicated company, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH, based in Wels, Austria. The move is designed to streamline operations and accelerate market entry for organic fertilizers made from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product of Black Soldier Fly larvae processing organic residues from the food industry.
Andreas Steinbüchler, a veteran with over 25 years in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN. Steinbüchler previously served as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer, and was President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023. His leadership is expected to drive the company's strategic growth in the organic fertilizer segment.
The initial product launch is planned for fall 2026, featuring fertilizer sticks for potted plants. A lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming are scheduled to follow later the same year. The products will be derived from insect frass sourced from REPLOID's own ReFarmUnits, which are modular insect-rearing plants that convert regional organic residues into valuable resources.
Europe's fertilizer market faces structural challenges, including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and soil degradation. Organic fertilizers like those from REPLOID REGREEN complement mineral alternatives by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing drought resilience. This positions the company to meet rising demand for locally produced, circular solutions in agriculture and horticulture.
“Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run. With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term. With a focused company within the REPLOID Group, we gain the speed and agility to successfully develop the market with innovative products,” said Andreas Steinbüchler.
Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, emphasized the strategic importance of the spin-off: “With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential.”
The consolidation reflects REPLOID's broader commitment to the circular economy. The company builds and services ReFarmUnits for customers, supplying Black Soldier Fly larvae and customized feed mixes developed from regional food industry residues. After rearing, customers can use the larvae or by-products themselves, or REPLOID takes them back for centralized marketing or further processing. The larvae are sold directly or processed into proteins and fats for animal feed, while the insect frass is converted into premium organic fertilizer.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Wels, Austria, has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange's direct market plus segment since July 2025 (ticker symbol: HRX5). The company employs over 190 people and operates with a global focus. Further information about REPLOID REGREEN can be found at www.regreen.co.
This strategic move is poised to have significant implications for the agricultural sector, offering a sustainable alternative to imported fertilizers and contributing to soil health improvement across Central Europe.
