SS Innovations Completes Record-Breaking 12,500-Mile Robotic Telesurgery Between Guyana and India

SS Innovations International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SSII) announced the successful completion of the world's longest-distance robotic telesurgery, with a robot-assisted cardiac procedure performed across approximately 12,500 miles (20,000 kilometers) of fiber network distance between Guyana and India. The procedure utilized the company's SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and was conducted remotely by CEO and cardiac surgeon Dr. Sudhir Srivastava from Guyana, while the patient-side robotic system operated in India, functioning with network latency of approximately 290-300 milliseconds.

The company said the achievement surpasses its previous telesurgery distance record of approximately 6,250 miles and further demonstrates the capabilities of the SSi Mantra platform in long-distance surgical applications. This milestone coincided with the launch of Guyana's National Robotic Surgery Program and follows regulatory approval for the SSi Mantra in Guyana. According to the press release, 173 telesurgeries have now been performed using the platform globally, including 22 cardiac telesurgeries, which SS Innovations says makes the SSi Mantra the only surgical robotic system currently used for robotic cardiac telesurgery.

The implications of this record are significant for global healthcare, particularly in regions with limited access to specialized surgical care. By enabling a surgeon to operate on a patient thousands of miles away, telesurgery can bridge geographical gaps and bring expert medical procedures to underserved areas. The low latency achieved—under 300 milliseconds—is crucial for the precision required in cardiac surgery, demonstrating that long-distance robotic surgery is feasible and reliable.

SS Innovations develops innovative surgical robotic technologies with a vision to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible globally. The company's product range includes the SSi Mantra system and its suite of SSi Mudra surgical instruments, which support various procedures including cardiac surgery. An American company headquartered in India, SS Innovations plans to expand the global presence of its cost-effective surgical robotic solutions.
