The Ferrari 250 GT Red Special Spyder, a meticulously crafted homage to the 1957 Berlinetta Speciale, has been acquired by the Ron Sturgeon Collection. This recreation captures the essence of the original vehicle commissioned by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, featuring a high-performance engine with an estimated 320 horsepower, a five-speed manual transmission, and unique design cues like an oval grille and sculpted fender vents.
Ron Sturgeon, the founder of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, highlights the car's tribute to Ferrari's prestigious heritage, pointing out its authentic Maranello craftsmanship. Inside, the vehicle is adorned with a wood-rimmed steering wheel and classic Veglia Borletti gauges, echoing the original's luxurious spirit.
This acquisition not only pays homage to the Ferrari 250 GT's royal origins but also underscores the timeless allure of Italian car design, making it a significant addition to Sturgeon's esteemed collection.
