Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) has reached a historic milestone in the card grading industry, grading a record-breaking 570,000 cards in May 2025, as reported by third-party grading service tracker GemRate.com. This achievement surpasses the previous record set in April, where over 341,000 trading card games (TCGs), sports cards, and non-sports cards were graded, highlighting CGC's rapid market expansion.
The introduction of the CGC Pristine 10 label in 2023 has significantly impacted the collector's market, with cards receiving this grade experiencing substantial value appreciation. For instance, an Alpha Black Lotus graded CGC Pristine 10 was sold for $3 million in a private sale in April 2024. Similarly, a Victor Wembanyama rookie card graded CGC 9.5 achieved over $100,000 in a recent Goldin Auction, showcasing the premium placed on CGC-graded cards.
CGC's growth is unparalleled, with sports cards seeing a 631% increase year-over-year and TCGs up by 146% in May. The month-over-month growth for sports cards was 474%, with TCGs and non-sports cards also experiencing a 26% increase, indicating a significant surge in grading activity. This growth trajectory suggests CGC is on pace to grade an estimated 10 million cards by year's end.
The company credits its success to its dedication to fast, accurate, and affordable grading services, making it the top choice for collectors globally. With strategic expansions in London, Munich, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and an upcoming office in Dubai, CGC is poised to further its industry influence and continue breaking records.
