UGI Utilities is set to commence a comprehensive system upgrade in Hellertown, starting the week of June 9, 2025, aimed at bolstering the safety and reliability of utility services. This initiative not only focuses on infrastructure improvements but also provides a unique chance for selected homes and businesses along the project route to switch to natural gas. The upgrade will predominantly impact Easton Road, stretching from Lower Saucon Road to Cherry Lane, with construction operations planned from 7 am Monday through Saturday. To facilitate the work, lane closures will be implemented between 9 am and 3 pm from Cherry Lane to Countryside Lane, with traffic flow overseen by flaggers. Moreover, Easton Road will experience full closures from 6 pm to 6 am Sunday through Friday between Cherry Lane and Lower Saucon Road, ensuring uninterrupted access for local residents and businesses. The underground construction on Easton Road is projected to wrap up by October's end.
Starting mid-June, Ringhoffer Road, between Easton Road and Sherry Hill Road, will be closed around the clock, with underground activities expected to conclude by June's end. The project may lead to temporary natural gas service disruptions, requiring UGI to access properties for equipment checks and service restoration. The timeline for project completion is flexible, contingent upon weather and operational conditions. Post underground work, the focus will shift to final paving and restoration efforts. This upgrade not only promises enhanced utility infrastructure but also aligns with energy efficiency and sustainability objectives by facilitating the transition to natural gas for eligible properties.
