Comcast has announced a significant initiative to support local entrepreneurship through its RISE program, targeting small businesses in the Wasatch Front region of Utah. The program is set to provide 100 selected businesses with comprehensive grant packages valued at $3 million, aiming to bolster small business growth and contribute to community development. Each package includes a $5,000 monetary grant, a technology makeover featuring computer equipment and internet services, a professionally produced 30-second television commercial, media strategy consultation, and 12-month access to online entrepreneurial education resources.
Small businesses located in Bluffdale, Draper, Herriman, Riverton, Sandy, South Jordan, West Jordan, and White City are eligible to apply for the program between May 1 and May 31. Applications can be submitted through the Comcast RISE website. This initiative is part of a broader effort by Comcast to support 100 local businesses in five regions across the nation, extending the total number of entrepreneurs aided since the program's inception in 2020 to 14,000.
J.D. Keller, senior vice president of Comcast's Mountain West Region, highlighted the critical role small businesses play in economic development. The RISE program is a component of Comcast's Project UP, which is dedicated to creating digital opportunities and fostering a future filled with unlimited possibilities. Tenisha Hicks, owner of Isha Recovery and Sculpt and a previous beneficiary of the Comcast RISE program, shared how the program served as a vital resource during challenging times, enhancing her business's visibility and sustainability.
The grant packages are meticulously designed to offer immediate financial relief and long-term business development tools, addressing the myriad challenges small businesses face in today's competitive economic environment. This initiative underscores Comcast's commitment to empowering small businesses and strengthening communities through targeted support and resources.
