Laconiko, renowned for its award-winning single-origin extra virgin olive oils (EVOO), has announced the release of its latest harvest from Southern Greece. This year's collection features two standout varieties: the Laconiko Estate Olive Oil and the Laconiko Olio Nuovo. Each product is distinguished by its unique flavor profile and high polyphenol content, offering consumers not just taste but significant nutritional benefits.
The Estate Olive Oil is characterized by its grassy and artichoke notes, with a polyphenol count of 538mg/kg. Meanwhile, the Olio Nuovo stands out as the first certified high phenolic EVOO in North America, boasting an impressive 877mg/kg of polyphenols. Diamantis Pierrakos, co-owner of Laconiko, likened the introduction of this year's harvest to welcoming a new family member, underscoring the pride and care invested in the production process.
To assist consumers in navigating the market for high-quality olive oil, Pierrakos offered essential advice: opt for extra virgin olive oil for superior quality, check the harvest date to ensure freshness, and choose packaging that shields the oil from light to prevent degradation. These tips highlight the critical aspects of olive oil selection that can impact both flavor and health benefits.
The new harvest is available through Laconiko's online shop, their Manassas showroom, and select specialty retailers across the nation. This release not only marks another milestone in Laconiko's fourth-generation family tradition but also emphasizes the company's commitment to producing premium olive oil from organic Koroneiki olives cultivated in Lakonia, Greece.
Particularly noteworthy is the Olio Nuovo's health benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cardioprotective properties, attributed to its high oleocanthal content of 503mg/kg. This makes it an appealing choice for health-conscious consumers looking for nutritionally dense food products.
