Comcast has announced a significant expansion of its fiber network in Franklin County, Idaho, targeting the cities of Preston and Franklin, along with surrounding areas, to be completed by early 2026. This initiative, supported by a public-private partnership with the State of Idaho and funded through the Idaho Capital Projects Fund Broadband Infrastructure Grant, is set to deliver high-speed internet services to thousands of homes and businesses, including Xfinity Internet and Mobile, and Comcast Business Internet and Mobile solutions.
The project is a pivotal move towards eliminating the digital divide in rural Idaho, offering essential connectivity for economic development and enhancing the quality of life for residents. Chris Larsen, Preston City Council Member, highlighted the project's potential to connect the community to the global network and stimulate local business growth. The expansion will introduce Comcast's comprehensive services to the area, ranging from internet and video to mobile and managed home solutions for residents, and advanced connectivity and cybersecurity solutions for businesses.
Ramon S. Hobdey-Sanchez, Idaho State Broadband Program Manager, praised the collaboration with Comcast, emphasizing the goal of ensuring all Idaho residents have access to reliable, high-speed internet. Comcast also continues its efforts to make internet access more affordable through programs like Internet Essentials, offering eligible households high-speed internet at reduced rates.

The new network promises high reliability, innovative features like Storm Ready WiFi, and multi-gig speeds, underscoring Comcast's commitment to security and customer satisfaction.
