SIGMA Corporation has announced the launch of the SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art lens, a groundbreaking addition to its Art lens series designed specifically for full-frame mirrorless cameras. With an F1.2 maximum aperture, this lens is the brightest 50mm prime in SIGMA's lineup, yet it maintains a compact and lightweight design, weighing only 745g for the L-Mount version. This combination of features makes it the lightest lens in its category, suitable for a variety of photographic and videographic applications.
The lens's optical performance is exceptional, delivering high resolution and beautiful bokeh from its widest aperture across the entire focus range. This is thanks to SIGMA's sophisticated optical design, which effectively corrects aberrations and includes the company's first 13-blade rounded diaphragm for circular bokeh. The SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art also features dual HLA-driven floating focusing, ensuring smooth, silent autofocus and minimal focus breathing, making it ideal for both still photography and video recording.
Professional users will appreciate the lens's robust construction, which is dust and splash-resistant, and the water and oil-repellent coating on the front element. Additionally, the lens includes several practical features such as an AFL button, an aperture ring with a lock switch, and a focus mode switch, enhancing its usability in various shooting conditions.
Available in both L-Mount and Sony E-mount versions, the SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art lens is set to hit the market on April 18, 2024, with a retail price of $1,399. This launch represents a significant advancement in lens technology, offering professionals and enthusiasts alike a tool that combines exceptional optical quality with the convenience of a lightweight design.
