Rex's Fort Worth Debuts T-Rex Lager, a Texas-Grown, Malted, and Brewed Beer

Rex's Fort Worth is raising a glass to Texas agriculture, local craftsmanship, and the start of football season with the introduction of T-Rex Lager, a new crisp, refreshing lager made entirely within the Lone Star State. The beer begins with malt grown by partner farmers in the Texas Panhandle, then travels to TexMalt in Fort Worth, where it is transformed into Llano Pilsner Malt before being brewed into the finished product in downtown Fort Worth.

The result is a light, easy-drinking lager with plenty of flavor. Crisp and refreshing, T-Rex Lager pairs with just about anything on the Rex's menu and is especially welcome on a hot Texas day. Guests can enjoy a 22-ounce serving for $9.

The launch comes just as Rex's prepares for a packed August of alumni gatherings, celebrations, and college football, giving guests plenty of opportunities to be among the first to try it. Upcoming events include a TCU Alumni Happy Hour on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 6–8 p.m.; State of the Frogdom with Sonny Dykes on Friday, Aug. 14, from 4:45–7:30 p.m.; Rex's Birthday & Red Raider Kickoff on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30–8:30 p.m.; and the Official TCU Watch Party: TCU vs. North Carolina on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m.

Whether stopping in for dinner, meeting up with fellow alumni, or settling in for kickoff, guests now have a new local beer to raise to Fort Worth and football season. The introduction of T-Rex Lager underscores a growing trend in the food and beverage industry toward locally sourced ingredients and transparent supply chains. By partnering with Texas farmers and maltsters, Rex's is not only supporting the regional economy but also reducing the carbon footprint associated with shipping ingredients from distant locations. This move may appeal to consumers who prioritize sustainability and authenticity in their dining choices.

For the restaurant industry, this launch represents a strategic way to differentiate a brand and create a unique selling proposition. As competition remains fierce, offering a proprietary beer that tells a story of local origin can help drive customer loyalty and repeat visits. Moreover, tying the release to football season and alumni events positions T-Rex Lager as a communal beverage, enhancing the social experience that patrons seek.

For the broader business services sector, the collaboration between a restaurant, a maltster, and farmers highlights the importance of partnerships across the agricultural supply chain. It demonstrates how businesses can create value by vertically integrating or collaborating with local producers, which can lead to cost savings, quality control, and marketing advantages. This model may inspire other hospitality businesses to explore similar initiatives, fostering a more resilient and interconnected local food system.

Rex's Fort Worth is a locally owned restaurant, bar, and gathering place at 1501 S. University Drive, featuring great food, cold drinks, live entertainment, and some of Fort Worth's biggest sports watch parties. For more information, visit https://rexsftw.com/.
