A. Michael Smith has been appointed Senior Vice President, Chief Audit Executive at Peapack Private Bank & Trust, where he will lead the internal audit function and drive strategic initiatives for growth. With over 30 years in auditing, risk management, and technology, Smith brings a wealth of experience and a track record of innovation in the financial services sector.
Prior to joining Peapack, Smith was Chief Audit Executive at Nasdaq, where he played a key role in building a leading internal audit team and implementing advanced technologies to manage global market transactions. His career also includes a partnership at PwC, where he led internal audit transformation projects, and leadership roles at major financial institutions, as well as a partnership at Deloitte & Touche.
Smith is the author of Internal Audit of the Future: The Impact of Technology Innovation, exploring technology's role in transforming auditing, and holds a U.S. patent for a method of auditing crypto assets. A Baylor University graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
