Mullen Automotive has marked a significant milestone with the first sale of its all-electric Mullen ONE Class 1 cargo van to Global Expert Shipping, a Glendale, California-based international freight forwarding company. This sale, conducted through Mullen's dealership partner Pritchard Automotive, represents a pivotal moment in the company's strategy to penetrate the commercial electric vehicle market. The adoption of Mullen's electric vehicle by Global Expert Shipping reflects a broader industry trend towards sustainability, aiming to reduce operational costs and carbon emissions.
The Mullen ONE cargo van, along with the Class 3 Mullen THREE truck, meets all U.S. safety and emissions standards, having secured certifications from the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and the EPA. These approvals facilitate the commercial deployment of Mullen's vehicles across the United States. Furthermore, Mullen has enhanced the appeal of its electric vehicles through significant financial incentives. In September 2023, the company received IRS approval for federal EV tax credits, offering up to $7,500 per vehicle to eligible customers. Additionally, the CARB-issued Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Program (HVIP) approval for the Mullen THREE provides up to a $45,000 cash voucher at the time of purchase.
Since initiating commercial vehicle production in August 2023 at its Tunica, Mississippi facility, Mullen has expanded its dealer network to seven partners. These dealers are strategically located across key U.S. markets, including the Midwest, West Coast, Pacific Northwest, New England, and Mid-Atlantic regions, ensuring comprehensive sales and service support for Mullen's electric vehicles. The company's Tunica manufacturing center has also been granted Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) status, offering advantages such as duty deferment and the elimination of duties on exported vehicles.
