Comcast has announced a significant investment in the small business community of King County through its RISE program, earmarking over $3 million in support. This initiative is designed to bolster 100 local businesses with a comprehensive package of grants and services aimed at enhancing their operational resilience and technological capabilities. The program's launch is timely, as recent findings from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce highlight inflation as a primary concern for 58% of small business owners, with more than a third facing revenue challenges at levels not seen since 2021.
The Comcast RISE program offers selected businesses a $5,000 monetary grant, alongside a suite of additional supports including technology upgrades, creative production services, and business consultation. This multifaceted approach is aligned with Mayor Bruce Harrell's economic development strategy, aiming to provide a lifeline to businesses navigating the current economic landscape. Applications for the program will be accepted from May 1-31, with winners announced in August. Community partners such as the Bellevue Chamber and the Greater Seattle Business Association are facilitating free information sessions to guide potential applicants through the process.
King County stands among five regions chosen by Comcast for this round of funding, alongside Boston, Grand Rapids, Nashville, and South Valley. Since its inception in late 2020, the RISE program has extended its reach to 14,000 entrepreneurs across the nation, underscoring Comcast's commitment to small business sustainability. This effort is part of the larger Project UP initiative by Comcast, which seeks to create digital opportunities and support business growth. By equipping small businesses with the necessary tools and resources, Comcast aims to foster innovation, stability, and economic resilience within local communities.
